Sushi Fumi

Los Angeles

Sushi Fumi optimizes the LA sushi scene.  Always packed, no reservations allowed, conversations overpowering already loud music, be prepared for a scene.  Like the superficiality this city’s reputation suffers from, it takes walking the streets or in this case, sitting at the sushi bar to overcome what might deter many.  If able to get past these potentially limiting barriers to entry, dining at Sushi Fumi will leave you wanting to return time after time.

Beyond the assortment of regionally Katsu-ya poached staples found at most popular sushi restaurants (Baked Crab Hand Rolls, Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna, Yellowtail with Jalapeno Sashimi), Fumi offers a pleasing assortment of reasonably priced seasonal fish.  Every day there is a board against the wall that has about a dozen nigiri/sashimi specials illustrating the variety of options if trying to be more explorative.  The kitchen also does a great job of churning out Japanese dishes that glow with authenticity.  The Agedashi Tofu was one of the better dishes I have eaten in a while.

It’s pretty simple, there is a reason why Sushi Fumi always has a wait…
