Asuka
Westwood
A bit newer to the LA Sushi scene, I am hoping Asuka is here to stay.
Offering a variety of different levels of Japanese Cuisine ranging from the Sushi staples to a great selection of appetizers and hot dishes, Asuka does everything well. From the second you walk in, greeted by the sharp maître D in his perfectly fitted suit, there is a sense of pride that resonates within the walls. Beyond being welcoming, the staff is committed to doing things well on every level from service to preparation and delivery.
Many indulge in the omakase, but I prefer to order a-la-carte, splurging on the likes of a rock shrimp tempura appetizer or a sushi sampler ( the Snapper three ways and Uni combo of Santa Barbra and Japanese are personal must).
Overall: Asuka may not be the most unique or memorable sushi restaurant, but every time I leave I remind myself why I keep returning. (Quality: Very Good – Variety: Very good – Value: Good – Vibe: Good)
