Sushi Sasabune
West LA – Beverly Hills – Glendale
Sasabune is a pioneer in the sushi scene of Greater LA. With their roots based in Little Osaka on Sawtelle dating back three decades, Sasabune has transformed over the years, upgrading, and expanding to what is now locations in West LA, Beverly Hills and Glendale. The omakase served may be the best combination of ubiquitous cuts mixed in with premium selections. Don’t be fooled however, this is not the typical salmon and tuna they are serving down the block.
Sasabune embodies what makes a sushi tasting experience so unique and enjoyable. Eating out at a sushi restaurant in Japan is considered a luxury. Given the perfectionism of Japanese culture, everything served should require equal focus on sigificnace and preparation . Just because some courses do not consist of Toro or Uni overnighted from Japan, that does not mean they should not be highly regarded.
The omakase served at Sasabune is a journey of sashimi, unique warm dishes, and incredible nigiri, all of which are palate pleasers. Most of the courses remain on the menu throughout the year but the commitment to seasonal selections remains strong. One certainly must pay the price for the extravagance that ensues, but word to the wise, come during the lunch hours and pay around half of the evening toll.
What feels like a system in place at Sasabune is unwavering, instilling the need to come back and experience what may be the perfect sushi meal again and again.
Overall: Sushi Sasabune is embraced by all. Come here and fall in love or discover your sushi mistress. (Quality: Highest – Variety: Good – Value: Average – Vibe: Good)
