Mori Sushi

West LA

After sitting back and embracing the feeling of being satiated from a 20-course dinner at Mori, it won’t come to you as a shock that it holds a Michelin Star.

It’s all in the details at the white walled and expertly curated Mori Sushi.  While Chef Mori Onodera does not reside in the kitchen day in and day out as when the doors first opened on Pico Blvd., the restaurant has never strayed from its aura of remaining committed to the little things that count.  All ingredients are of the highest caliber that can be achieved.  The likes of Sea Bream and Sweet Shrimp are overnighted from Japan, but one will also delve into tasting the finest Uni from nearby Santa Barbara.  Dissecting the attention to detail further you will be encapsulated by the underlying flavors. The house made tofu, soy sauce blends and rice used all stick out as the true essence that makes everything you eat here divine.

Mori is as seasonal as they come.  One would be hard pressed to discover the same array of dishes the following week.  This reality makes every night at Mori almost feel like a Jazz ensemble, entrenched in the pocket improvising line after line.  Enjoy the moment and don’t question where the sushi takes you…

Mori is the 1961 Château Cheval Blanc… Save Mori to celebrate the joy of a graduation or anniversary, but maybe just walk in and remind yourself of the gift to humanity that is eating great sushi.

(Quality: Highest – Variety: Highest – Value: Don’t Ask – Vibe: Very Good)
