Sushi|Bar
Encino
Chefs Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee teamed up to open this off-shoot literal “Sushi Bar” next door to their acclaimed Scratch Bar and Kitchen a few years back.
Simply put, eating at Sushi|Bar is an experience. From reserving a ticket in advance, to waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes before your seating with a cocktail in hand, eating at Sushi|Bar has a theatric feel to it. Once led through the kitchen, patrons enter a speakeasy back room where stylishly groomed chefs begin serving more expertly crafted cocktails. And now it is time to eat.
Sushi|Bar’s take on an Omakase is experimental and far reaching. Interpretive courses contain the likes of Uni, Scallop, Caviar and Shiso leaf infused in a single bite. At times straying away from simplicity of what is in fact high quality ingredients, overall, the journey through the evening is exciting and entertaining. Just don’t expect anything traditional!
