Sushi House

West LA

Sushi House is a long-standing local establishment known for its rolls, reasonably priced omakase and of course, the relaxed vibe.  Originally coined Reggae Sushi back in the 80’s, Chef Okyo has maintained the “roots” of his beloved restaurant and has continued to meet the market by providing high quality cuts of fish.

I’ve been coming here for some years and would recommend playing the field with a combination of rolls and sushi.  A beloved roll is the Salmon Salmon Salmon, with the name being the description in itself. As for omakase, expect it to run about $50 dollars with 10 pieces of nigiri and a hand roll (typically blue crab).  Fixes like Toro, Blue Fin and the must try seared scallop sushi are usually incorporated.

Like a good re-run of the show Friends, Sushi House does not disappoint.  For an easy, unassuming and quality sushi meal with Bob Marley music playing like clockwork, go drive to Pico and Bundy.

Overall: What can I say, listening to my favorite music genre with my favorite cuisine is enough to get me to come back, but the food here is quite good.
