Takao
Brentwood
Takao embodies Brentwood sushi. Not flashy, but rich, unassuming, yet brash.
Takao still runs on the same engine it built back when opening in the 90’s. This engine to me is what I would consider a turbocharged V6, a high performance, high induction machine that when at its best can outperform any competitor.
Start with one of the many appetizer sashimi appetizers or small plates and you will be in heaven. The Halibut Truffle Sashimi and Scallop Dynamite will instantly lift you to the outer stratosphere of flavorfilled nirvana. Then there is the sushi selection, which is not always the most extensive, but always contains a methodically premeditated array of specials that one may order a-la-carte or through a delectable omakase.
Maybe I am biased towards high performance engines, even those that are not naturally aspirated, but I still believe Takao is a contender.
Overall: Like the white walls that have always remained, Takao is unwavering in quality and taste. (Quality: Very High – Variety: Good – Value: Good – Vibe: Good)
